I continue to have this problem with my ISP. I am using baton mail and
have it set on POP.
I also have a problem when I set it to smtp I get this error. I have run
the applescript Axe LFs in open messages:
** SMTP server error "451 See
http://pobox.com/~djb/docs/smtplf.html."
** Couldn't complete the last command because a network stream error
occurred.
This is the reply I got from my support when set on POP:
The error "** 553 sorry that domain isn't in my list of allowed
rcpthosts (#5.7.1)" is our mail server's way of saying "You are not
allowed to relay".
You are not authenticating to the mail server before attempting to send.
There are two ways to do this:
1.. POP-before-SMTP. This is simply checking to see if you have mail
before attempting to send. There is a 15 minute window where you will be
allowed to send a message before you will need to check for mail again.
2.. ASMTP (Authenticated SMTP). This method is more reliable than above,
but is not supported by all mail clients. You would use the same
authentication information you use to read your email in order to send.
