After you removed the CE preference file, did you restart the Mac?
Sometimes an open application needs a Macintosh restart before it will
create a new and working prefs file. It sometimes creates the prefs file,
but is still "looking for" the old (deleted) file.
Did you try moving the prefs file into the Claris Emailer folder?
Have you tried deleting the entire Claris Emailer folder, plus the prefs
file in System Folder -> Claris -> Claris Emailer Preferences? Since you
have your two most important files backed up:
Claris Emailer Folder -> Claris Emailer Files (folder) ->
Mail Database
Mail Index
... you could delete all of Claris Emailer plus the prefs, restart,
reinstall Claris Emailer 2, apply the 2.0v3 updater, restart, then replace
the Mail Database and Mail Index from your backup.
You would loose your specific prefs, settings, schedules, etc., but you
would have your old mail.
