I'll take a shot at this, since I have a similar problem.... but I haven't "addressed" the problem.
I think Neville is on track here: >Just make sure you have only the one >address book and that is in the right place. If you had two address books, one which was on the iMac and the other on your laptop, whenever you changed addresses in one, the change would *not* take place on the other (and reasonably so.) Thus, as Neville said you need have only one copy of Emailer in order to maintain the same addresses. Your corrective maneuver was to copy the laptop address book and install it on the iMac, replacing the one already there.... or so attempting. It sounds as if you, in the process, actually somehow *removed* the Emailer address book from the laptop, in which instance a new address book appeared automatically (on the laptop Emailer..... as, for example, removing (trashing) a preference file will result in a new one being installed. I may be incorrect in this, but I have a similar (if not identical) problem with emails. Like you, I often use Emailer running 9.2.2. However,in my case instead of a laptop running OS 9.2.2, I have partition that uses OS 9.2.2 (same drive) Also, I have a second copy of Emailer on another partition with OS 10.3. Emails are *NOT* kept current, however, on the OS 10.3., when I use Emailer on the OS 9 partition.....(much as your address book is not kept current on your iMac with OS 10.3 as you alter addresses in the other address book) People have said that I shouldn't have installed Emailer on BOTH partitions of my hard drive; that irrespective of where Emailer is on the drive, it is accessible to the operating system being used at the time. Thus, if I have two copies of Emailer, the computer will select the more readily accessible; but will not update the addresses, or email database on the other copy. The solution, I've been told, is to keep only *one* copy of Emailer. While I have not tested this, it does make sense. The reason I installed a copy of Emailer on the partition using OS 10.3 was to make it available when running under Classic. From what I've learned since, that was not necessary; the computer maintains a file of OS 9 applications and they're available to start up in Classic wherever they've been installed on a drive. The solution: Keep only One copy of Emailer (installed ONLY on your laptop.), When you need Emailer while using your iMac, connect to your laptop using your network, and the Blessed copy of Emailer will be available there along with the current addresses, etc. While I cannot vouch for this, having not tried it, I think this may resolve the issue. However, it would require the network connection between the laptop and the iMac. Let us know if this helps. If I'm wrong here, others will step up to let us know. Can't hurt to try.
