Baton Mail works fine 99.999% of the time, so I ain't complaining. If I recall correctly, after one of several reboots, the new thing I did (don't ask me why) was to open CE first and then Baton Mail. I usually do it the other way around. I don't see how that could make any difference, but outgoing mail went out immediately thereafter, so my primitive mind associates this act with magical success.
