Actually, it was not "sold", just changed...

What happened was another Aladdin software company, who after many years, 
decided that they owned the Aladdin name. They were a bigger company, so 
Aladdin decided not to bother fighting, and changed the name of the 
company to Allume. Very likely Aladdin would have won, but my guess is 
they were already hurting financially, and did not want the risk of 
spending precious cash on attorney fees.

I discussed this with their CEO last MacWorld.



The trouble with ignorance is that it picks up confidence as it goes 
along.
