OK, I must have already installed it at that point. Reviewing my error logs it appears this is the response I got when trying to send before installing the hack version: --* Couldnt complete the last command because the connection timed out.-- And then after installing the hack, at one point (sorry I am not more clear on the specific circumstance) I got this error: --Connecting to Internet using Account entel Sending mail using smtp.sbcglobal.net ** Could not resolve the domain name smtp.sbcglobal.net because no data was available for reading. Checking email account [EMAIL PROTECTED] ** Could not resolve the domain name pop.entelchile.net because no data was available for reading.-- And by the way, I have a different SMTP because I am traveling and connecting to the net usually through a different dialup account than at home in Chile. > It is very possible > your mail server > doesn't support SMTP Authentication (or at least not > the Login method). > If you are sure you are not using the SMTP Auth > hacked version, then are > you running something like Baton Mail to provide > authentication? I am sure the Entel email server does nothing that would be useful. In fact I am subscribed now to the List/Digest through a Yahoo email account because the List rejects the Entel server which has no protections and has thus become an international spammers paradise. > > Can you go to a web site? In any case, I no longer to have access to the broadband connection I was experimenting with, as I have travelled on again, but plan to soon have a different access, thus DO want to resolve this. During the problem I did try connecting to a random website successfully as you suggest. So in conclusion, assuming the potential servers I have access to are not using SMTP authorization, and that the one I am using is online, how can I resolve this? For example, should I be using the SMTP hack version of Emailer, or Baton Mail? Is there potentially no solution if the mail server is of a certain type (? I'm limited in my technical understanding)?
