Yes, I choose to quit, and it does nothing (totally nothing's going on)
for that long and quit out after that.

Today, I duplicated the files, and I named the original program to
emailer2005, and put it away. I then name the new copy, emailer2006 (the
app.). Then launch that, and started to delete some messages. I think I
deleted a total of over 3000 messages. I estimate I still have over
7000-10000 messages left.

And without even waiting for a rebuild of the database file, here's the
stat:

launch:  25-30 sec.
quit:   30-35 sec.

(using OS 9.2.2 boot)

But wait, later on today, I tried launching and quitting a few times, and
now I think the system must have some cache going on? Because here's the
speed (remember, no rebuild yet, mail database and mail index files size
are actually a bit bigger than before.):

=========================
launch:  3-6 sec.
quit 13-17 sec.

mail database: 509.20mb
mail index:     89.50mb
========================

I tried several times, all worked fine, even draft an email (such as this
one), then quit. I don't know why all of a sudden it's so "fast", but I
am keeping it that way.. ;)

I think I will try to delete some more messages tomorrow. What the heck,
email from customers are "NOT" important, right? so just delete more of
them..... lol.

Quite happy now, and I think I will just use the big axe and cut out more
old email to delete.... I am happy again.

Thanks guys. Now we all know the 101 ways to archive and backup our old
email.

Man, I am just so slow using any other email program to deal with the
email volume I have to do everyday..... so used to this, hard to switch
to anything else for now.

Going to MacWorld?? I am. Hope you all try to get to go to MacWorld.
Going to have lots of new stuff there.

Thanks again guys.
