I can't help with the Epson printer since I am using a Canon i9100. I expect that there are a lot of variations in the usability of the various printer utilities. You may want to check to see if there is an alternative or newer driver for your printer. As far as my printer is concerned with CE, I can print to a tiff, to the printer and to a preview with a print button. Once I've clicked on print I have to open the printer utility window and manually start the job but then it prints fine. Since it's not obvious what needs to be done I thought I would post this.
