Hey all,
I have an E-Mailer question that I have just recently encountered and do
not know how to resolve. Let's see if any of you have the expertise to
help me solve this:
OS 8.6
CE 2.0V3
ISP Roadrunner
Web Browsers: IE 5.1.7 Mozilla 1.2.1
Mostly everything is working well for me, but recently I have been
finding more and more web sites that do not support IE for the Macintosh.
So I decided to make Mozilla my preferred browser. That was the easy
part - using the Internet Control Panel, I just selected Mozilla as my
preferred browser.
But since I still get a number of messages (mostly SPAM, but some from
friends who have computers that attempt to run Wondoze) that come through
with no or very little text, and an attachment titled "enclosed#.html".
When I double-click on these attachments to open them, they cause IE to
launch, instead of opening in Mozilla.
When I look at the type and creator codes for these files (using
Filetyper or Resedit), I find that the creator code is always being set
to MSIE. If I change it to MOZZ, then the file will open in Mozilla when
double-clicked, but that is a tedious workaround.
How/where can I change the setting so that all incoming html files in
Claris Emailer are set with a creator code of MOZZ? I tried using the
File Exchange Control Panel, but it will not let me select Mozilla as the
application for a filetype. I removed the association between html
filetypes and MSIE using this Control Panel, and all that did for me was
made it so that all incoming html files are now classified as "unknown"
type, and will not open by double clicking.
Any help or advice would be most appreciated.
Joe Getchel
