A brief update... After a list member kindly offered to test MailTo Emailer (and after additional trial and error of my own), it appears that the only ways to make MailTo Emailer 'stick' as the default app for browser mailto links, are:
1) To disable or delete (at least) OS X's (Tiger) Mail.app (and possibly any/all other X native email clients), or... 2) To alter Mail.app's Info.plist file by removing the Launch Services default designation there... and copy those lines of code to MailTo Emailer's Info.plist... then rebuild the LS database. In other words, thus far, I haven't found a non-draconian way to make MailTo Emailer coexist happily with X email clients. So, _ONLY_ if you're so devoted to Emailer that you're willing to take one of the above steps, it looks like it's no go. Sorry for crying wolf...
