For those (apparently) having file/app 'disassociation' problems in Classic, remember that the Classic desktop file can still be rebuilt under OS X.
Go to System Preferences > Classic and click on the 'Advanced' tab, wait a bit, then click on 'Rebuild Desktop'. Select your Classic volume in the next window and click 'Rebuild'. Wait for the process to finish, then close System Prefs. I doubt very much this will be of any help for Mark James' file extension problems, but it might be worth a try. -- Chris: If you miss the PowerBook 5300 badly, I still have mine. It was my first computer (of any kind) in 1995. It may have finally become obsolete with my purchase of a PB G4 12". I had more than my share of problems with the 5300, but after some 3-5 round trips to Apple for repair, and the adoption of an expansion bay power adaptor, it became a rock solid machine. I may still use it as a travel unit instead of my 'good' computer. -- Finally, it surprises me that no one running Emailer under Classic has complained about Emailer 'default' window sizes changing on quit/logout/restart/shut down. I've written a few window sizing scripts for myself that pretty much obviate the problem. I'll post examples if anyone is interested. Though 50 (or so) 'survivors' here seems like a tiny remaining installed base, I'm sure there are _many_ others out there still using and enjoying Emailer. Don't leave home without it.
