Am in a total mess now! After doing a rebuilt it downloaded the browzer. I immediately tried to backup on a disk before doing anything else and it all went downhill from there.
Re the Temporary folder - I think I made a mistake and tried to remove some of the stuff from yesterday. I placed it in the Trash but didn't empty it. I think chris told me that I should dump the whole Temporary folder without opening it and it would make a new one. I may have messed that up? I also don't understand where the Claris Mail Index and Mail Data files should reside. They are certainly not in the Applications folder, but in a folder marked Claris (old) in the margin. I dragged them to a CD to save but it only saved an alias and it was only 4 MB so I realized I hadn't saved anything - as it should be 371 MB. Don't know what I've done wrong - should I try another rebuild?
