Ellen Fletcher writes, <What are the pros and cons of shutting down overnight vs. putting to sleep?>
Well, it's more like the pros of just putting it to sleep at night, at least on OS X: in the morning, all I have to do is click my mouse, my Mac wakes right up, real fast, and all my apps are still open and ready for me to use. I used to shut down for the night pre-OS X because the computer was kind of sluggish if I left it in sleep mode too long, so, in the morning, I'd have to wait for it to boot back up from scratch, then I'd have to reopen my apps...and I would try to balance that by going to the bathroom, getting my (already brewed on the automatic timer) coffee, and getting dressed while the Mac was booting and the apps were opening. You know, tell it to boot, use bathroom/get coffee from kitchen and when you get back the Mac is finally booted (usually). Then, open app, put on bra while it boots...open next app, put on blouse, open next app, put on pants or skirt, and so on down the line. Can't say I really miss that! Now I can go to the bathroom first! ;-) ~Yersinia. ________ Got mole problems?
