...I am starting to love backstroke too! The problem is that I go
straight only when I have all the lane for me. In practice I fear to
crash into somebody, I start to look frenetically down and I end
overcompensating one way or the other.

You should have asked me to look at your backstroke as well Kate...!

I LOVE BACKSTROKE!

A coach from another team asked me as I was standing behind the blocks
waiting to swim my own 100 backstroke race, if the Nova Masters have a
"thing for backstroke".
I looked at the heat in front of me and there were 4 NOVA swim caps in
the lanes. More in the next heat too!

It reinforced my own philosophy that if a coach is pretty excited about
something on deck in practices every day, lots (not all) of the athletes
in the pool will get on board!

Thanks to the open hearted and game to try it swimmers this past season!

We made HUGE progress as a team since last year's SCM Championships!

GO NOVA!

Thank you Ahelee and Mike for being on deck the whole time,
cheering
        and coaching us on!
And special thanks to Ahelee for greatly improving my breastroke
at
the very last minute during warm up. All your suggestions and
pointers made the difference! I cut 2.2 seconds off my 50
breast time
from last year and only .2 seconds off my backstroke time from
last
year....guess I'm a breastroker! (And oh yeah, there's also the
fact
        that I swam a 46.6 on my 50 Breast and a 47.7 something on my 50
back
-- honestly, who swims a faster breastroke than backstroke? I
do!)

it was a lot of fun, for sure!
