Hey All --
Nicholas Petreley ([EMAIL PROTECTED]), long-time columnist ("The Open
Source") for InfoWorld and the founding editor of VarLinux.org, just penned
the following article:
"JSP in Harms' way"
http://iwsun4.infoworld.com/articles/op/xml/01/07/02/010702oppetreley.xml
This article is one in a series of recent articles by Petreley about web
application development. Petreley is generally a supporter of Open-Source
software, but he (like many) does not seem to have a kind word to say about
Perl. I have written to him a couple of times, and I encourage you to do
the same! Here is the letter I just sent him:

I read your 7/2/01 column, "JSP in Harms' way," and once again I find myself
asking, "What about Perl?"
The fact is, Perl is a lot more mature than even Java, and is more prolific
a language than any other for sophisticated web application development.
I would really like to see you inject an honest discussion of Perl into your
series on web development. I think you will find that, although unglamorous
compared to its better publicized peers, Perl is a preeminently capable
environment for building object-oriented (yes!), sophisticated (yes!),
database-connected (yes! yes!) web-based applications.
Thank you for your time
<----END----
I hope that if you all tell Nicholas about your use of Perl, he will be
inclined to take it a bit more seriously.
Thanks,
-Jesse-
