Ed,
thank you, this is what I was looking for. I rechecked their pages and
it's just like remembered:
perl58/apache2/mod_perl2/postgres8/dbi/dbdpg/imagemagick everything
seems to be there... They offer both source AND binary packages with
Debian tools - excelent. Thanks for the reminder. I found also MacPorts
but I'm not sure I understand what they really do...
So it's now only Embperl that is missing but if Gerald doesnt have Mac
around it's going to take quite some time to have it ported. :-(
Pete,
I fortunately don't have to use Cisco VPN so I have Gentoo/Debian under
VMWare/WinXP running (almost) fine but the whole point of MacOSX is not
running VM and having both decent GUI and reasonable server SW at the
same time - especially when I'm out of the office ( Well, actually it's
this new MacBook Pro I want and I'm searching for good reasons to buy
one ;-) )
Gerald,
if I get a Mac and send you ssh access would you be willing and have
time looking into porting Embperl to MacOSX?

You may be thinking of the fink project on Sourceforge, although I know
I ran across another project trying to do something very similar, and I
can't remember the name of that. (Fink does source code, with local
compilation; it's therefore a bit more complicated than the other - but
as a programmer, it means I can fiddle with the packages easily. The
other project shipped binaries.)

Hello,
is anybody using Embperl 2 (with Apache 2 & mod_perl 2 and perhaps
Imagemagick & postgresql ) on recent Mac OS X? I'm thinking about new
MacBook Pro but I'm not everything will work fine without a lot of black
magic... Comments?

P.S. I found perhaps a year ago a repository maintening a lot of
Linux/OS software for MacOS X but don't remember the name so I can't
find it anymore - any recommendation?
