Good idea to place it here first, but you might want to develop some
accurate timing with this, I mean, we have 7486, 74LS86, 74S86, 74C86,
74HC86 etc, etc.

Some of there are open collector output with a fixed pull-up resistor
to VCC and some are CMOS push-pull outputs, the treshold values also
vary.

Nide idea anyway, I just wonder: what is pulse doubling good for? I
mean in the practical sense; I use quadrature outputs, since they
provide me with the maximum pulse rate available (currently runs at
50k). This is fed to PIC18F4431 which does the stepper motor phase
control, with current amplitude changing with the speed. Notice that I
don't mention steprate, but speed instead, since at low speeds the
motor is driven with sine-cosine current waveforms, allowing for
completely quiet movement with no rough steps.
