In theory merging them into the original classicladder would be great-but actually that is much of the problem of halification-there are about five variations supported in the original and EMC needs to modify them considerably. I wouldn't think Marc would be too interested in maintaining a HAL version unless he had HAL (and just HAL) included with his program. My thoughts are to not touch what I don't have to but if i have to , to not bother keeping the unnecessary code for different versions. I would rather have completely new source files for say 3 of 4 highly modified files that are easier to follow then try to maintain code that we can not use anyways. Also I am going to add a text file to document what has been changed and why so others (and I) can follow. There are LOTS of little changes. Version 7.124 adds enough new features to be worth it I think and I would like to include MODBUS support (which shouldn't be a problem though it will not be realtime). Actually is there an easy way to pull HAL and realtime out from EMC? Maybe Marc would be interested and I wonder if more of the world may be interested in Hal with out the rest of EMC. Its such an easy way to control the real world and the more people using it the more development we get. Anyways the basic file system is the same just more files added and the MAKE for realtime modules and the SUBMAKE file are modified for more files and more DEFINE s. I would like to put it in CVS so I might be able to talk someone to help me get over my current problem of the ladder files not loading right. That reminds me as I am new to C programing and using debuggers and IDE s, what do others use? I compile on the command line but usually use Anjuta IDE to modify and look at files. I have tried to use Anjuta's debugger to step through Classicladder with out success mostly because I haven't figured out how to add the debugging flag to EMC's or just classicladder 's MAKEFILE . I cannot import EMC as a project in Anjuta 2 on Gutsy (laptop) and Anjuta 1 won't load anymore on Dapper (desktop).
