Hi,

I'm a graduate student in software engineering. I'm doing research in
artificial intellegence at University Laval, Quebec, Canada. I have good
programming skills and a substantial background in software design methodology
(TDD, XP, Design Patterns, etc). My favorites languages are C++ and Java, and
I'm curious about Python and ruby.

I'm very familiar with eclipse's rcp framework, did some experiences with QT4,
and some prototypes in OpenGL.

I don't know if it is pertinent, but I have a lot of experience with Atmel's
AVR mcu.

I own a 5 axis mini milling machine to engineer parts for my researches. I
also use it for experiences. It is for the later that I need to interact with
emc. I'd like to contribute on the user interface parts of emc. I read the
document on the HAL, and I find the design very sound.

I read the doc on pyVCP and I think that while it is good for very simple
additions, it does not fit my needs.

I then quickly looked at AXIS code, and it looked quite disorganized (way to
large source code files, bad opengl practices, etc). Also I'm not a big fan of
the gui toolkit used. Yet, AXIS does its job, but the gui needs some
improvements.

I was using mach3 before and I found it bloated.

I'm looking for feedback about :
- anyone working on a refactoring of AXIS?
- any works on including stepconf IN axis, that is the only thing I'm missing
from mach3, the ability to change mill's settings from the same program
(velocity, axis limits, etc..)?
