Hi Fritz, "Module versioning support ---> disabled" line was added after the packages, therefore the ready-made packages are made with CONFIG_MODVERSIONS=y.
There is no need to disable the module versioning support for RTAI-3.7.1 and the instructions are OK with the module versioning. But some users prefere to disable it instead of to regenarate the kernel modules dependencies. The regenaration of modules dependencies is descibed in http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emcinfo.pl?Debian_Lenny_Compile_RTAI#Regenerate_the_kernel_module_dependencies acemi On 12/5/09, Alex Joni <alex.j...@robcon.ro> wrote: > Module versioning was a big no-no for older rtai's. > The more modern ones (I think post 3.6.0 at least) have no problems with it. > > Regards, > Alex > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "fritz" <fritzli...@gmail.com> > To: "EMC developers" <emc-developers@lists.sourceforge.net> > Sent: Saturday, December 05, 2009 2:45 PM > Subject: [Emc-developers] Precompiled Debian Lenny kernel problems > > >> It would seem that the packages on >> http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emcinfo.pl?Debian_Lenny_Compile_RTAI >> are made with CONFIG_MODVERSIONS=y, which the build instructions say >> should not be set. >> >> >> >> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ >> Join us December 9, 2009 for the Red Hat Virtual Experience, >> a free event focused on virtualization and cloud computing. >> Attend in-depth sessions from your desk.
