LinuxCNC doesn't support any USB interfaces for machine control (there is 
support for human-machine USB interfaces)
For stepper motors the Parallel port is cheap and often entirely adequate. Of 
the devices listed on the Wiki "supported hardware" page the devices with the 
best support are from Pico and Mesa. The Mesa 5i25 + 7i76 is a very good 
combination for PCI-based control  of stepper machines. 
Note that the Pico solutions use the parallel port for communications, not to 
pass step-dir signals, ie both Pico and Mesa products move step signal 
generation and counters into hardware.
