And so the Next-Generation Controller becomes the Next-Generation
Next-Generation Controller :-)

Just be sure those who depend on LinuxCNC to make their livelihood
understand the distinction between the two tracks and are assured the v2
track will continue to be supported with repairs and with extensions
(within reason given the current architecture)---mimicing Ubuntu's
notion of LTS.

It's too bad we can't use identifiers that don't imply sequence, like
"red" and "green" instead of "2" and "3" (not an idea that is original
with me). In other efforts I've been associated with in the past, this
ploy helped manage expectations and reduce anxiety.

Not that it matters practically, since I won't be doing the heavy
lifting and will simply cherry-pick results to match my meager hobbyist
equipment, but I'm in favor of what's being proposed and discussed here.

Regards,
Kent
