And so the Next-Generation Controller becomes the Next-Generation Next-Generation Controller :-) Just be sure those who depend on LinuxCNC to make their livelihood understand the distinction between the two tracks and are assured the v2 track will continue to be supported with repairs and with extensions (within reason given the current architecture)---mimicing Ubuntu's notion of LTS. It's too bad we can't use identifiers that don't imply sequence, like "red" and "green" instead of "2" and "3" (not an idea that is original with me). In other efforts I've been associated with in the past, this ploy helped manage expectations and reduce anxiety. Not that it matters practically, since I won't be doing the heavy lifting and will simply cherry-pick results to match my meager hobbyist equipment, but I'm in favor of what's being proposed and discussed here.
