Gentle persons: I have updated roughly the first-half of the "Installing LinuxCNC" wiki page (http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Installing_LinuxCNC) <http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Installing_LinuxCNC>down through section 2.10.
In addition to making changes made necessary by the rebranding and the release of LinuxCNC V2.5, I tried hard to clarify the material. Like a garden it was beginning to sprout weeds. Using a freshly installed virtual machine, I have tried all these instructions myself but please check my work. After staring at this stuff for hours it is easy to overlook something obvious. Two issues: 1) I don't know yet how, in the Ubuntu GUI, to add the public key for the signed sources (which is done automagically in linuxcnc-install.sh) but I'm working on it. See the TBA in the wiki page. 2) I can't find new scripts for installing a precompiled simulator (formerly, http://linuxcnc.org/lucid/emc2-install-sim.sh and http://linuxcnc.org/hardy/emc2-install-sim.sh, which I marked "deprecated" on the wiki page). Any hints???
