Matt,  have you ever thought of going to law school?  I think your 
synopsis would suffice for a term paper in copyright law ;-)

To aid your effort, how about setting up a survey/poll:

* Would you allow the LinuxCNC/EMC board to define/re-license your 
prior contributions as part of their licensing cleanup efforts?

* If not, please explain and identify what code you wish to remain 
under a different copyright.

There are other questions that people could hash over (such as which 
licenses, etc.), but at least then we get as many respondents and then 
can see who else needs to be gotten ahold of...

As a note, you are welcome to do whatever you choose with what little I 
have contributed to EMC.  When breaking out the libraries I prefer LGPL 
type licenses so that the libraries can be use in places where the main 
programs cannot be released but any additions/fixes to the libraries are 
expected to be given back to the community.
