Actually, it turns out I took a few notes on each of the preempt-rt
endeavors I could find. Here's what I've got; please pardon any
formatting, which is essentially pasted from my own wiki [with comments
inserted and blather deleted].

If you'd like to pick out parts you like I'd be happy to put them on the
LinuxCNC wiki, where I might be able to preserve some formatting by
pasting the page source.

Michael Buesch branch
Background notes

     Patch for EMC and RT_PREEMPT
     Around 2009/11, unknown EMC version
     http://bues.ch/patches/emc-linux-rt/
         latest in http://bues.ch/patches/emc-linux-rt/20091112-1616/
Relevant thread from the emc.devel ml
         http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.distributions.emc.devel/2601

[ Following are some notes about a git repo that I may still have
around, but is probably not interesting. I basically checked out a
commit from 2009/11 to which Buesch's patches cleanly applied, then
merged HEAD with superficial changes. The final diff had a bunch of
cruft, so I cleaned up the patch to create the versions Charles has
placed in Michael Harberler's git repo. ]
