And, having visited at that shop & came away with some huge slabs of
Butternut for peanuts, Ray wanted it out of his way, he is enjoying the
heck out of that 'retirement', and furnishing employment to a widowed lady
who does a lot of the boxing and packing for him and who is not quite ready
to file for SS.

name dropper, at least to me.

He also had a Smithy table top mill there at the shop, with a good layer of
dust on it, and I sorta made a was it for sale type comment, fishing you'd
call it, but while it hadn't been dusted in a year or more, it wasn't for
sale at a price I was comfortable with since I was looking for a giveaway.
:) Looked like the makings of a nice mill, perhaps 6 or 700 lbs worth, but
only one motor was in evidence on the table with it. Probably the OEM acme
screws yet, your basic starter mill for a project IOW. Had it been for
sale, I might have taken my card to the bank in Crystal Falls to get the
cash. ;-)

But I did put some of that Butternut to work here in the house, the inserts
in all the kitchen cabinet doors and drawer faces are now all Butternut.
Dee isn't impressed, too dark to suit her, but at least the project is
finished, I was tired of looking at a different pattern of stick on paper
on each door for 5 years while she tried to make up her mind which one she
liked best. So you could say I made up her mind for her. :)
