Yes I just looked at the spindle-at-speed code.
Actually Stepconf has not connected that pin to motion, maybe
ever.
I have fixed that for the current stepconf and it has gone into 
2.5 and shortly master.

The metric deal is actually quite a pain programming wise.
Having metric defaults is quite possible but what happens
when someone changes the metric/imperial combo box
half way through (they can scroll back and change it)?
Do we try to convert the data or do we erase it and set at default metric?

Maybe I can Have the metric check box one screen earlier,
and live with resetting the defaults to metric.......hmmmm
