Yes, LinuxCNC G-code has digital inputs and outputs (M62-M68 commands)
For example M66 P0 L1 Q15 will pause execution until HAL pin
motion.digital-in-00 goes from low to high (and the HAL would link
that pin to a 7i77 digital input).

If using the timeout you need to check that it was a real trip not a
timeout before moving to the next stage of the process.

eg

M66 P0 L1 Q15
O101 IF  [#5399 LT 0]
    (MSG, It's all gone wrong)
    M2
O101 ENDIF

I will repeat that I don't think this is the ideal solution, but it
might be the quickest, assuming you are already familiar with G-code.
