I'm no expert at Inkscape either, my experience has been limited to some 
rockhopper file processing, but there, my lathes .hal file is at least 6 
pages pasted together.  And the text at that scale is both tiny & 
perfectly readable.  But thats probably pure luck.

Humm, a .svg?  that should allow full resolution at any size.  So this 
might need going clear back to the original artwork if it still exists 
after all these years.  The text I am seeing is extremely "blocky", like 
some of the original ghostscript fonts from 30 years ago when we had to 
build our own GS.

Thought: The drawings are just a hair fuzzy but perfectly usable.  And it 
would likely be a PITA to blank the existing text and re-add it using a 
modern font.  Maybe I can play around in inkscape and actually learn how 
to run it?  But not today. I need a corn knife to get around in the back 
yard.
