Nobody is asking LinuxCNC to _support_ RAR. The request was to allow
people to attach RAR files to forum posts.

I don't have any objection to anyone doing that, it does no-one any harm.

But I don't think that they will get as much help as they might if
they do that, because many people won't be able to uncompress their
file. (I don't think I have a RAR decompressor on my Mac or my Linux
machines, and I am unlikely to install one just to look at a forum
poster's HAL files)
