You make a valid point. I was just looking at what it would take to 
allow .rar files though the forum and on the servers.  It is likely that 
there should be at least one rar license on the server if we are 
allowing people to shuffle the format around.  That is what I ment by 
support...

When I posed what I did I was not sure how it would be used, and if RAR 
would be uncompressible by the server side stuff.  I had installed a 
trial version on one of my machines to unrar an archive someone sent me 
once.  Thanks for the poke, I will make sure that all the machines I 
have access to are in compliance.  I would hate to get dinged for using 
unlicensed software!

Anyway, turns out that there are distributors and license resellers all 
over the place.  I asked what it would cost...
