Assuming the information I recorded is accurate, it is necessary to support gtk 3.x versions back to 3.4.2 for new features in the master branch. I am the original author of stepconf but I am now so unfamiliar with it that I am probably not a good person to review your changes. Chris Morley may be the one with the most familiarity today, he has certainly made most of the recent changes and enhancements to it. Are there any user-visible benefits to upgrading to gtk3, or are the benefits primarily in addressing technical debt?
