I work with a machine that displays out to an angstrom iirc. It uses mm as the main units. That's a lot of digits. I don't think I would want to work in microns. I know people are trying to hold dimensions on the order of a nanometer with similar machines. Our machine isn't tuned quite that well, and you need a temperature controlled environment

You could easily configure the machine to use microns as the base unit
(then G20 would work in thousandths of an inch).
