And I am wondering if it could be made for the the simulator again.

Based on motion.motion-type changing to a 5 indicating a probing
operation was being done, and taking note that the sim has no connection
between the probe being performed and the probe being detected. So it
runs to the end of the requested motion and errors out, so developing
probing routines isn't terribly practical in the simulator.

So I had added, in the sims .hal file, a comparator to detect the
motion-type as = 5, and used that to start a 1 or 2 second timer, which
when it ran out, pulled the probe line true/low. This of course is only
arbitrarily accurate, but does allow such coding to be developed and
pretested from the office chair. ISTR I also had that interlocked with
the motion-type=5 too, so that touch at speed, backaway, then touch at
creep speed could be done as we commonly do for max accuracy.

Worked great for testing such code before shipping it to a machine where
it was needed. But now its gone, and has been gone long enough none of
my backups would have a copy. Locally, amanda has a 30 day recovery,
then the "vtape" is re-used.

>From the above description, can this wheel be re-invented and made part
of the simulations available?

I found it quite handy.

Thanks.
