If the OP wants to be an open source developer/contributor, they would benefit greatly from learning git. They would submit their patch using the instructions on our Contributing docs: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/code/contributing-to-linuxcnc.html
If they don't particularly want that, then we'd all be better off if someone like you or Norbert took the patch to our development branch.
