Hello Jon,

It is certainly possible to used PathPilot on non Tormach machines and with
hardware other than mesa. In fact, it is quite strait forward to do so, and
that is coming from a Linux and LinuxCNC newby. As far as I can tell
PathPilot is basically LCNC 2.6 with a very bloated custom interface and
some fancy HAL cobbled onto it, nothing fancy. As long as what your
customer wants to do would work with LCNC 2.6, it should work fine with
PathPilot.

If custom kenimatics or HAL components are needed they can be compiled on
Ubuntu 10.06 (I think that is right) with LCNC 2.6 and then transferred to
the correct location on the PathPilot install. I have been foolish enough
to do such things ....

We were hit hard by Irma so don't have power or Internet at the moment, but
when that is back I can proved information on how to start up PathPilot
with out it complaining about the missing mesa cards etc. if you or your
client are interested.

All this being said, while you can configure PathPilot to run pretty much
whatever you want, why bother? IMHO there are better LCNC interfaces out
there, and being stuck with LCNC 2.6 can be a real limitation depending on
what you are after and the machine type.

Please pardon any typos, I am not familiar with the use of these one finger
keyboards, but necessity is making me learn!

Cheers,

Kurt Jacobson
