Greetings all;

2 mistakes in the gcode cost me 2 broken 1/8" mills yesterday. 1st
mistake was a G0 x#<_ZUP> which left that line highlighted when I hit
esc as it was exiting from cutting the line cord gland hole by cutting
the side of the hole until the tool broke.

The hole pattern looked great, in the backplot, 3 holes on the left
calculated from the left end, the 4 holes in a square pattern calculated
from the center of the panel_len, 3 more holes on the right calculated
to the left of the panel_len. But there was a 1 missing from panel_len =
11.875 when it s/b 11.1875.

This time I had very carefully stayed away from the offset tweaker,
instead I rehomed the axis I needed to move, but g55 and g56 both jumped
down nearly 80 thou from the G54 homed position when it reached the code
to do the db socket outlines. Z was not moved in the g10 L2 commands
used to place the db25 socket outlines. Those commands are

G10 L2 P2 X2.576000 Y1.90000000
G10 L2 P3 X9.000000 Y1.90000000

derived from the g54 home=X0.0,Y0.0 positions

No z offset commanded but I sure got it.

Both X values need a small tweak.

So how can I nail the z down so its consistent across g54-55-56?

Doesn't rehoming correct all 10 possible co-ord mappings so if no z is
specified above, it does not move? Or does it (LCNC) treat rehoming
different from the original home. This machine has no home switches so
its homed where I click the button, only switches to keep it from
unscrewing the ball nuts off the end of the screws, and this pattern
uses about 97% of the tables motion X wise.

Every spare i/o on parport is used. I need to get a 5i25 into it but have
been busy with other stuff, and careing for Dee. I did buy two of these
boxes, and if this works well on the g0704, I'll make another just like
it for this mill. Thats the plan anyway. But I have got to solve the
random Z offsets (its jumped both ways) that I'm not programming into my
code.

Today later I'm supposed to get a script for my left eye. Since they are
transitions lens, hard coated, I might see better a week after I get the
script. It takes that long to make them out here in the hills of WV,
USA.

Would I trade it for some place where I could get them while I wait?
Nope, cause I'd have to carry full time too. Nope, not when I can see
deer 25% of the time while driving the 3 blocks out of our little
cul-de-sac, or they leave their hoof marks in the yard at night 6 feet
from the house. I'm an old Iowa Farm kid, would much rather have an 80
acre front yard and another 80 for a back (both with woods) yard than
this postage stamp we have, but its paid for!

Thanks everybody.
