Turned out I had to get creative with dd & gzip and a tar or 2, but I got 
it recovered and everything is working.  Latency at 28 microseconds for 
the servo thread, is better than the 70 microseconds I was getting out 
of a 4.4.4-rt kernel and the jessie install.  So I am a happy camper. 
Very happy.
