LinuxCNC + FreeBSD + grbl/Arduino? That would be the only way, right?

There's not, at least in our repo.  I wouldn't be surprised if lots of 
folks have forks with partial support for building & installing under 
other distros, but i think only one has offered a PR so far (he was 
trying to build LinuxCNC under FreeBSD, got partway there, and offered 
some portability patches along the way).

I have no personal interest in making LinuxCNC build and install on 
non-deb platforms, but I won't resist at all if someone else wants to 
work on that project.
