I am almost happy about the problem you spotted with Axis, as fixing that with some good confidence will also help with the stability of other installations - I just personally cannot help with that. The problem with the transition of Qt5 -> Qt6 on gentoo is an interesting one. The Linux distribution worlds somehow like to renew themselves much more frequently than the CNC machining infrastructure renews itself. And the focus of our community is much more on the lathes/mills/robots than it is on the computer talking to them. The answer to that problem in a classical sense are backports. That is no big deal for say libgpiod, but I do not have much confidence that this happens for Qt6.
