I'd suggest it is even worse. Not only your work and reputaion is at
stake. The works and reputation of the group and the rules by which the
work is created are violated and ignored (in a real sense, stolen for
profit). We are all violated and abused by their actions
I had a look at gitea and liked it. Very responsive. Those 95 Euros
for a full service per anno they are requesting we can possibly pay?
Call me crazy, but I would feel bad if any of us would spend much
time administering any such setup. Please keep your focus on
LinuxCNC.
Self-hosting is the only real option with gitea, but, as you also say,
that gives a lot of work. The commercial gitea version, well, that is a
problem IMO. Not sure I'd want to go that route of dependence (also
considering location).
Codeberg is a very much more attractive option. You/we can always donate
to them :-)
