Regarding Fred Waechter comments on table 1 and table 3 in the 1000-3-2 std.

In my limited experience there are very few products that exhibit the type
'D' waveform and pass the table 3 limits.  This waveform is the result of
of a simple rectifier capacitor filter circuit which is so rich in harmonics
(THD is easily 105%) that when 'fixed' via LC filters or active PFC the
waveform qualifies as type 'A'.

Thus when you have 'fixed' the product you go to Table 1 limits.  I wouldn't
devote a whole bunch of effort trying to understand the relationship between
the tables.
