I recommend the blade style auto fuse, such as LittleFuse. These are diecast parts from a zinc alloy without welds/brazes to fracture or fatigue. The reliability is much improved compared to the ceramic tube fuse with external elements. The blades fit quite snugly into the slip connectors, which are available as pc-board mounted, and connectivity problems are zero.
I have Littlefuse parts in an SELV circuit and have not had a safety agency problem. The safety people are much less critical about fuse style/standard in a low voltage application. (These fuses are rated 32 VDC). Another alternate to consider is the positive coefficient protector such as Raychem's PolySwitch. These are self-resetting and inherently slow so they may work in your application. [email protected], Bob DenBleyker, IBM-RTP
