I recommend the blade style auto fuse, such as LittleFuse.  These are diecast
parts from a zinc alloy without welds/brazes to fracture or fatigue.  The
reliability is much improved compared to the ceramic tube fuse with external
elements.  The blades fit quite snugly into the slip connectors, which are
available as pc-board mounted, and connectivity problems are zero.

I have Littlefuse parts in an SELV circuit and have not had a safety agency
problem.  The safety people are much less critical about fuse style/standard
in a low voltage application.  (These fuses are rated 32 VDC).

Another alternate to consider is the positive coefficient protector such as
Raychem's PolySwitch.  These are self-resetting and inherently slow so they
may work in your application.
