Hello All,

Does anyone happen to know if Japan has a similar derating scheme as the US
& Canada does regarding mains attachment plug ends???

That is; UL1950/CSA 950 D1 Deviation under 3.2.1 (Connection to Primary),
snip "the attachment plug shall be rated not less than 125% of the Rated
Current of the equipment at the nominal voltage range as defined by the
configuration of the plug". Generally, this means that with a NEMA 5/15
plug and 15A wall outlet, you can only RATE the product current up to 12A
(actual measurement of up to 13.2A).

In other words, in Japan, can a product draw up to 15A through a 15A
cordset, appliance coupler, and wall mains outlet??

Does anyone know if Japan has any similar Electrical Code requirements that
address/cover a derating scheme on plug ends/wall outlets, etc..??

Also, the way that the D1 deviation to 3.2.1 is written, it specifically
states "attachment plug" regarding the 125% rule, however, a safety agency
has stated that the C13 (15A @125V) appliance coupler is also considered to
be covered by this derating requirement. Has anyone else been told
this??

Lastly, has anyone encountered any problems in Japan with having the input
rating label of ITE equipment state "120V".

Your experiences and input regarding this subject will be greatly
appreciated.
