Dear Friends,

There were several good suggestions for the question on how to handle
a product that has a high leakage current, so here is a summary of
     what I received:

Reference EN61010 - 4.4 Testing in single fault conditions.

4.4.2.2 The protective conductor shall be interrupted, except for
PERMANENTLY CONNECTED EQUIPMENT or equipment utilizing a connector in
     accordance with IEC 309.

Reference EN60950 5.2.5 Equipment with earth leakage current exceeding
     3.5 mA

If the Earth Leakage Current exceeds the specified limit and the
product is Pluggable type A (Equipment intended for connection to the
building power supply via non-industrial plugs) this is not
     acceptable.

If the equipment is Pluggable type B or Permanently connected then the
Earth Leakage current shall not exceed 5% of the input current and
have a label bearing "HIGH LEAKAGE CURRENT - Earth connection
     essential before connecting supply".

Please note that Pluggable type B is Equipment intended for connection
to the building power supply via industrial plugs (complying with
     IEC309)

Option 1: Replace the IEC 320 attachment plug with a IEC 309
attachment plug. EN60950 would also require a label.

Option 2: Could possibly use an isolation transformer.

Option 3: Could divide the system in two parts, with separate line
cords. One part would contain the motors and use permanent wiring, and
the other would power only the controls.

Thanks to all of you who provided the great input.

Happy is the man who finds wisdom and understanding!

     Ray
