There is a general interest in external, separately supplied
equipment to meet some of the various requirements for conducted emissions
from products. From several inquiries including comments coming from
European trained engineers - both within and separate from - Euro test
houses, this seems acceptable providing the interconnection to your product
is unique in some way that discourages/prevents the user from plugging the
equipment directly into the mains supply bypassing the added supressor.

So there seem to be some options for manufacturers to extend the
life of current, non-compliant equipment by the use of these devices
providing that they ensure their use.

Some devices apparently are already being offered for sale, so I've
heard.
