I agree with Rich: "...it would be far better to specify the
environmental requirements for each test rather than for all
tests."
Rich also shows us some examples of tests in which ambient
conditions have influence or not. But you can not find those examples in
the standards so it is a technician decision, most of the times very
easy but sometimes not so easy. I think that is a dark point of
standards to make more difficult repeatitibility and trazability of
tests.
By other side, Peter, I don't know about other laboratories, but
in my lab, we have an automatic ambient condition recording system. In
every lab room we have a probe for humidity and temperature, connected
to a remote computer that record the history every 10 minutes. Moreover,
an alarm system give us a message if ambient condition are found out of
a prefixed range. Pressure is only measure in one point because we
suppose no pressure difference in the same building.
