Hello Everyone, I have had a number of replies (many thanks to all), and I would like to post a quick summary in the form of quotes from some of them, for interested readers.
--- ENV50204:1995 standard is an immunity standard simulating the rf signal generated by digital telephones. We test our ISM equipment to this standard at a 10V/meter field at 900Mhz with a 50% duty cycle @200Hz. The standard calls out another frequency of 1.89Ghz (same modulation). This test is called out in the EN50082-2:1995 generic standard (only for the 900mhz frequency though) and is currently required for the CE marking in Europe on medical equipment. --- A paper was printed in electronic engineering july/aug 1998 on the subject 'Can mobile phones interfere with hospital equipment?' - The paper was very interesting - the investigation was performed by the University Of York and the person to contact is Prof Andy Marvin (tel 44 1904 432391). The paper is published in Journal of Medical engineering and technology vol 21, No 3-4 pp 141-146 --- There are many sources of information. One in particular is the University of Oklahoma EMC Center. They have done some research and published papers on the effects of wireless devices (mostly cell phones) on medical products including pacemakers, hearing aids, etc. They sponsored a Forum on the topic in 1996, and OU has published results of their studies. I haven't kept up with them since they published in 1997, but I am sure that you can get copies of their activities. --- Have a pleasant week, Kevin Williams -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Kevin Williams, MIEEE Electromagnetic Software and Systems (EMSS) Technopark, Stellenbosch, South Africa email: [email protected] tel/fax: +27 21 880-1880 +27 21 880-1727 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- --------- This message is coming from the emc-pstc discussion list.
