We are looking at buying an antenna or antennae for pre-compliance
testing use in-house. We use a spectrum analyzer (HP 8590), so I assume
I will also need a preamp. We want to cover the range of 20MHz - 1GHz,
and we intend to simply set it up somewhere in the building (ie no
ground plane, no shielding). Rather than just dive in, I'm playing with
the idea of renting first, to see how bad our ambient problems will be,
and what sort of correlation we do or don't get with our OATS data.

1. Can anyone provide contact info for someone who rents out biconical,
log periodic, and/or combination (e.g. "Bilog") types, and pre-amps?

2. Can anyone tell me what I need to look for in a preamp, and/or
suggest brands and cat. no's?

3. Does anyone have any strong feelings either way about the combo
antennae (Bilog, Biconilog, etc.) vs. the 2 discrete antennae?

4. Any advice anyone has on selecting, setting up and using (or not!)
this sort of equipment would be appreciated (we know what the standards
say to do - I'm looking for the practical pre-compliance testing
advice).

Thanks in advance, for your help.
