>From what I have seen and heard in the past ten years, I do not believe that anyone anywhere is very well protected or immune from lawsuits (read lawyer suits). There are people that sue at the slightest provocation for the silliest of reasons. Having been a defendant in several (not from my day job) taught me that I will make due diligence my work habit but that it will not protect me from suit-happy free-loaders. Due diligence does, however, make it easier to defend myself and has served to have a couple of suits turned into shorts, except when insurance companies settle rather that fight (because it is less expensive).
